HOPE
The beginnings of a new piece of work. It’s on medium to heavy habotai silk, not much of a shine, and will hold the colours amazingly. As you can see, it starts with the word ‘HOPE’. What happens next is anybody’s guess! That is the luxury of waiting for the dye to dry - ideas and developments will ferment in my mind, till I reach for my brush. There’s no rush.
The theme of HOPE will be running through my work this year. Following the overwhelming aim of the rainbow scarf campaign, where you and I, and a few others, raised over £2,000 for NHS Charities, I thought about our HOPEs for 2021, and thought how wonderful it is to give HOPE as well as having HOPE. So when you give or wear one of my new designs, you’ll also be giving HOPE or wearing HOPE, as HOPE will be the theme of my designs.
And I won’t stop there. As with the HOPE cards, on sale in my shop, I will be donating 10% of all sales to the charity “HOPE”. “HOPE” is a registered charity offering support for young people when a loved one has a serious illness. To find out more follow this link.
In these times, when children’s’ education is taking headlines, I think this aspect of our strange experiences has been slightly sidelined. Young people need particular emotional help and guidance to survive and flourish for their future.
The feeling of HOPE is so vital to get us through these times. With HOPE, you believe there is a future. You are creating horizons to aim for. You know that if you carry on with HOPE you’ve made a target to focus on, and it’ll grow and develop. Just follow my posts on this scarf! There will be times when our hopes are dashed, but you seem to realign and reconfigure - to quote the song, “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again!”
Richard Evans, artist and designer, has also decided to produce the card design as 25 limited edition high quality prints. To purchase, follow this link:- https://www.rdevans.com/?portfolio=limited-edition-signed-prints
Now we are in the New Year, it seems it is full of contradictory emotions. Sadness with the second lockdown, and HOPE with the commencement of the vaccination. I looked up the for the forecast of when I could anticipate my jab - July/August! And I’m no youngster! So this will be a serious factor when deciding to participate in live events this year. Keep an eye on my News page, and in the meanwhile, I’ll be extremely happy to hear from you and to have your support with donating to “HOPE”.
